Hi, I’m Maeve Maddox, your School Reform Editor. I have four university degrees and I've taught at every level from pre-school to university. My views on education reform often differ from the mainstream. I welcome reader feedback and look forward to lively discussions at the School Reform forum.
Education is in flux between reform and revolution. The new Common Core Standards have already triggered controversy among professional educators.
Parents of school-age children need up-to-date information about laws that affect their local schools. They may also want to know how to monitor their children’s school progress to be sure that they are learning what they expect them to learn.
Teachers may want to know what’s being done in other districts to improve the learning of at-risk children.
Mature students may be looking for ways they can take charge of their own learning and improve their chances of graduating from high school with a clear idea of what they want to do next.
With my newsletter I'll alert you to the latest education news, provide teaching tips, offer ideas on how to help children focus on learning, and discuss changing educational needs.
